PROJECT 1 – Pod Project, Wood St. Gallery, Chicago IL
A multimedia installation design project for a meditation “pod” with sensory components such as video and sound installation, lens windows, and seating.
Decay/Birth/Rebirth is a 3-part video/sound montage for this installation. Crow (decay) footage is followed by water (birth) footage, then refractions (rebirth). Video was installed in a self-contained space that allowed the viewer to experience it as a private meditation. View the video on Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/15627618)
PROJECT 2 – Interiors/Exteriors, Gallery 2, Chicago IL
A multimedia installation project using video, sculpture, and sound compositions in two adjoining rooms approximately 250 square feet. This installation was a reflection on internal/spiritual worlds versus external/material and included wall text and custom upholstered/embroidered chairs.
PROJECT 3 – Dream Machine, NFA Space, Chicago IL
Multimedia installation using a 12x12’ room, film footage, a projector, a reflector and padding for participants to view from a floor point of view.
This installation was intended as pure sensory experience, with a projection that reflected upon a cylinder that caused it to fill the walls of the room, surrounding viewers. Video featured a dancing man, shot on Super 8 film in Cairo, Egypt.
PROJECT 4 – Materia, Gallery X, Chicago IL, solo exhibition
A multimedia installation project using video, kinetic sculptures, and sound compositions in approximately 500 square foot gallery. The installation was a study of healing modalities—specifically concepts in homeopathy, and included:
a video installed in the entrance that featured a hand turning the pages of a Western medical book from the late 1800s.
a series of digital prints featuring a woman enacting a symptom called “wooden tongue” (per Materia Medica, the professional homeopathic reference).
a kinetic sink connected to a pump that made the sink appear to be continually running.
a medicine cabinet filled with self-invented homeopathic cures such as bottled “narcissus” (mirror scrapings in vitamin capsules), bottled word capsules for the speechless, a razor blade engraved with the word “sincere" (a “cure” for indecisiveness) and other related objects.
a second video in a separate space that featured a mouth speaking, shown on mute.
a vanity seat rigged with an actual stove coil and upholstered with fiberglass.
sounds of turning pages and running water created a rhythm throughout the space.
